Now the UK has left the EU, the requirements for placing new work equipment and machinery on the UK and EU markets, including arrangements for conformity assessment, marking and labelling have changed.
The government’s priority is to ensure that only safe and compliant products are placed on the market. The changes made to the UK’s legal product safety framework will allow it to remain operable.
The main regulations are now :-
Two further Directives that could apply to some equipment or apparatus are;
The Pressure Equipment Directive. 97/23/EC (PED).
The Explosive Atmospheres Directive. 94/9/EC (ATEX)
Once equipment or apparatus is accepted for use within a workplace it falls under The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) Regulations and is applied to any equipment or apparatus that is used in the workplace by employees.
